Our Mission
The Friends Network, Inc. was founded in 1997.
The Friends Network is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and cultivation of social relationships, recreation and life management skills for children and adults with developmental disabilities. The Friends Network provides people with disabilities the opportunity for community integration and friendships through a variety of structured social and educational activities.
The Friends Book Club
The Book club offers members another social and educational outlet. Our members can either read the book or listen to tape. It is an opportunity to increase vocabulary, broaden the mind, interact and share opinions with peers.
About our Calendar
The Friends Network offers several recreational activities each month, usually on Friday or Saturday evenings. Most of these activities are held at various locations through out Westchester and Putnam counties. Activities include but are not limited to: Movies, Museums, Dinner, Ball games, Bowling, Broadway Shows, Dancing, NYC Day Trips, Weekend Trips, and Camping.
Additional Programs/Eligibility
Life Skills workshops are held periodically through out the year offering classes in cooking, computers, housing initiatives, special needs trust planning and more. We provide services to adults with disabilities, who are 18 years and older, in addition members need to show positive social behavior, require minimal supervision and travel independently.
Transportation and Fees
Members are responsible for arranging their own transportation to local events. The Friends Network can help arrange carpools and will hire coach buses for events when need.
